News & Announcements
Roseland Resident Bill Cinque Honored
Library director Jenn Overton presented Bill Cinque with a Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of the library. In addition to serving as secretary for the Friends of the Library, Bill's contributions to the library include his annual holiday train exhibit, Star Wars movie marathons, helping assemble the new children's furniture at the library, and more. Thank you, Bill, for all you do!
Important Delivery Update
Patrons may now have up to three book requests at once. If you have more, they won't be automatically cancelled, but you won't be able to place any new requests until you have less than three. BCCLS informational video:
HOOPLA is Back!
HOOPLA is back for Roseland Free Public Library patrons! Simply go to and enter your library card information to download free music, movies, television programs, audiobooks, and ebooks. Please note: each patron is entitled to any FOUR downloads per month at this time.
Leveled Reading List Books Available
Noecker Kids & Parents: We now have a list of books available at the library for the leveled reading system used at Noecker Elementary School. All you have to do is inquire at the Circulation Desk, and you can see a list of books at your child's current level that we have available.
Fundraiser Theater Trip
The Friends of the Roseland Free Public Library will host a fundraiser bus trip on Saturday, March 24, to Lambertville, NJ to see Beehive: The '60s Musical at the New Music Mountain Theatre. Teen Lego Mindstorms
Teens are welcome to join us as we program our newly constructed Lego Mindstorms robot, Wednesdays through March 28, from 4 to 5 pm. RSVP 973-226-8636
Adult Meditation Classes
Upcoming Adult Meditation classes are set for the following Thursdays: April 11 at 7 pm, April 12 at 10 am, and April 26 at 10 am and 7 pm. RSVP is appreciated, so we can contact participants in the event of a cancellation: 973-226-8636.
NEW! Movin' in March
Join a fun, new group fitness activity that meets every Monday in March at 10 am. Explore different types of exercise and healthy recipes in a relaxed setting. Includes 20-30 minutes of low-impact exercise streamed on video, followed by a discussion. Ideal for beginning fitness levels. Bring a towel and water bottle. Call to RSVP.
Knitting & Crochet Club
Enjoy an evening of knitting and crocheting at the library on Monday, April 21, starting at 7 pm. New members welcome.
Learn About Your Ancestry
On Monday, April 9, at 7 pm, geneaology expert Anthony Lauriano will show you how to navigate the federal census, ship manifests, as well as birth, marriage, and death records to learn more about your ancestors. Call to RSVP.
Escape Room Just For Kids
We have planned an Escape Room especially designed for elementary school age kids on Thursday, April 11, at 4 pm. Call for more details!
Instapot Workshop
Are you the proud and excited owner of a new Instapot? Thinking of getting one? Attend this fun class on Friday, April 13, at 6 pm to learn more about this new and trendy kitchen equipment, along with some recipes to make with it. Call to RSVP.
Adult Mat Yoga Every Wednesday
Join us for an Adult Mat Yoga Class every Wednesday at 11:30 am for another invigorating sesssion with Taryn and Kristin. RSVP is not required, but still helpful in case we need to reach participants in the event of a cancellation. Note: There will be no yoga on April 25.
Library Book Club March Selection
Stay tuned: The Roseland Free Public Library Book Club will set a new date to meet and discuss Sing, Unburied, Sing by Jesmyn Ward, a novel about broken family ties in the deep South. New members welcome.
Matinee Mondays
Our next Matinee Monday, March 26 at 1 pm, will feature Megan Dunleavy, the 2017 drama based on the true story of a Marine corporal and her combat dog, Rex. Movie is rated PG-13 and runs for about 2 hours. Popcorn will be served, and no RSVP is needed.
Scott's Solutions: Now Taking Appointments
Library assistant Scott Bergenfeld can show you the basics of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other tech resources FRIDAYS 9 am-noon. Safely navigate social media; create resume templates, letters, and spreadsheets; utilize cell phone, iPad, and Kindle features, such as calendars and more. Please note: RSVP needed for this drop-in instruction, call 973-226-8636.
Mobile Hotspots Available
Mobile Hotspots are now available for our patrons to borrow! Available to patrons 18 or older with a valid driver's license and Roseland Free Public Library card in good standing. Each hotspot provides internet access for up to 10 devices. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis, and the loan period is 14 days. There will be a $5 per day late fee.
Museum Passes Available
We have NEW museum passes to the Jewish Museum, Grounds for Sculpture, and the Children's Museum of Manhattan! Patrons can also borrow passes for themselves and/or their families for The Newark Museum, Montclair Museum, Morris Museum, The NY Transit Museum, The Jewish Museum, the Children's Museum of Manhattan, Grounds for Sculpture, and Imagine That!
